Yiea Wey Te is a politician and member of the Parliament of Canton Zurich, Switzerland.  In the Cantonal Parliament he is a member of the control committee that oversees the activities of the state authorities.

Yiea Wey Te was born in Lucerne in 1983 and is the oldest child of a war refugee. He became a Swiss citizen in 1992. In 2003 he joined the Swiss Armed Forces and today holds the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.

He started his political carrier after being elected to the municipal council in 2018, where he held the office for construction. After four years, he took over the municipal financial office. He is often referred to as an “untypical typical Swiss”.
