Dr Serina Robinson is a tenure-track group leader in Environmental Microbiology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG) near Zürich.

Previously she was an ETH Zürich postdoctoral fellow and obtained her PhD in Microbiology and MSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology from the University of Minnesota.

Her earlier research focused on characterizing methane-oxidizing bacteria and their enzymes, specifically methane monooxygenases, which act as a biological filter for greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, her research group at EAWAG uses computational and experimental approaches to investigate environmental microbiomes and probe metabolic and ecological functions using synthetic biology techniques.
