Dr Harris Luk is currently the Head of R&D on biopolymers and biomonomers at Sulzer Chemtech. Before joining Sulzer, he did his PhD in Catalysis Engineering (ETH, 2019) and MSc in Polymer Reaction Engineering (ETH, 2015).
Throughout these interdisciplinary training on polymer and catalysis engineering, he has built a unique chemistry profile and capability set that enable him to translate lab-scale synthesis and characterization into pilot-scale production and process development. This, in turn, accelerates the product launch and process commercialization in Sulzer.
His areas of expertise include chemical synthesis of biomonomers and biopolymers, purification of biofuels and oleo-chemicals, catalysis design for CO and CO2 to higher alcohols, as well as process development and optimization.
